Mental Health & Healing
May is mental health month, and in line with that, in this healing program we are going to take on mental health and the experience of narcissistic abuse. It’s a nuanced conversation – narcissistic abuse can culminate in mental health challenges, can worsen existing mental health issues, but we may also get so focused on labeling the issues faced by people experiencing narcissistic abuse as “mental illness” that we miss out on pointing out that the fallout of narcissistic abuse is an expectable reaction for anyone who is being gaslighted, manipulated, future faked, and invalidated. We will break down some of the most common issues in mental health and how they show up in narcissistic abuse such as anxiety and depression and help make sense of how all of this connects and affects our overall health. Healing is about finding paths forward that are responsive and integrate the mental health fallout you are experiencing, and a reminder that all of our paths look different based on the fallout and mental health histories we have.
